A music recital came to a fiery end on Saturday, culminating in the burning of two old pianos!
The recital was the brainchild of Philip Mackenzie, Conductor of the Amadeus Orchestra, who is originally from Hillesley. Philip had written a variation on a piece of music by American composer La Monte Young, which reached a climax with the fiery destruction of two scrap pianos.
This was part of a socially-distanced recital by a number of musicians at Philip’s family home near Hillesley – the first time many of them had played as part of an ensemble since the Covid-19 lockdown.
